Cape Cod running

This Summer for vacation my family and I went to Cape Cod in MA. Of course, even though I'm away I still have to run for cross country, surprisingly the cape has awesome running roads. The first night I had to run 6 miles so I headed out on the beach for the first 3.5 miles, then it started to get dark so I ran up someones private stairs, jogged around their back porch until I reach the sidewalk (good thing they weren't home, haha) Then I started to run back on the road which is in North Turo, 15 minuets away from Provence Town. When you run on sand you lean forward and put pressure on your toes, its a much bigger workout compared to the regular terrains I deal with. I thought that it would be quicker to run on the road but it actually took me longer; I got lost, It was pitch black outside, I didn't have a phone, or the address of the house, I seriously had to find it in the dark fast. After a 2 mile detour I eventually found the house and I was relieved that my mum didn't call the police. haha

Favorite clothing store! FREE PEOPLE

The clothing brand Free People has amazing clothes, shoes, and accessories. They carry every type of unique style you may represent and they always find a way to make you fall in love with one of their pieces. The designers behind Free People actually go to different countries to be inspired and then create these extravagant garments. They also have a vintage section where they sock old military boots, belts, Levi's, and jewelry. Although it's pretty pricey, Free People is extremely high quality and nothing less. I cant help myself but to check their web sight every week for there new merchandise. Here are some of my new favorite things!

Downtown Dress-

Oh my god. This dress is beautiful and I desperately want it. Next formal dance it's mine! I could pair it up with my moms Vintage white Merriam Haskell necklace and red or blue pumps.. In this dress there seems to be layers of different fabrics that intertwine. It also is a very strechy fabric so it's easy to put on and off.

One of a kind vintage Flower Necklace

$168... ? For something you could do yourself. My local vintage jewelry store always has these unique flowers (as pins). They're so cheap and there's no reason to spend so much money on something when you can make it! Next time I go I'll make sure to buy some and re -create a necklace inspired by this.

Miranda Wooden Heel-
Because I'm a vegan it's SO hard to try and find cute leather-free shoes, exspecially heels. Luckily of FP they have a section on there web sight where they list all the shoes that are leather-free. Hip Hip Hooray!!

" If slaughter houses had glass walls then everyone would be vegetarian"

Meet your Meat, a undercover collaborative investigation video created by Peta, made me feel sick to my stomach. The video intended to "spill the secrets"upon the meat and dairy industries. For fourteen and a half years of my life I contributed to this inhumane and brutal way of killing. I wondered to myself if I feel this bad, then shouldn't everyone else be too? Why hadn't I known that this is what the factories do to get the products I consume? Is it a secret? This video has everything the industries don't want you to see. The terrifying scenes make you cringe and want to stop watching. But I encourage you otherwise, watch the whole video to get a full understanding of what really goes on.

I remember my friend said she saw the video and tried to convince me it was fake....
She said that it was photo shopped and I was ludicrous for believing it. I know it's a horrible thing to grasp, but this video footage is REAL. The methods they show are the real ways factories use to slaughter their cattle and other animals. I am now proud of myself that I became a Vegan, all though it was hard at first I feel I'm making the difference. We all can make a difference together by becoming vegetarian or simply not eating meat for a day out of the week.

This is something we can stop as a society.

Larabar- vegan energy bars

Larabars are unprocessed raw energy bars that combine fruits and nuts for the flavors mother nature intended for. I seriously couldn't believe how amazing these bars tasted. I now have one everyday for lunch to give me an extra boost. This week I've noticed a change in my attitude also, even though some snacks are vegan that doesn't mean they are good for you. Larabars have a texture of a oatmeal raisin cookie strait out of the oven; soft, crunchy, and fun to take the next bite. I strongly recommend going to your local health food store and picking up a few flavors or buy online

Why Vegan?

A vegan is a person who doesn't use or consume any animal product of any kind. I'm vegan for many reasons. I believe that as man we "dominate" the world, anything in our way we will simply stomp on it like it's a piece of trash. Really everything in this world should be equal and remain equal. It's kind of like the saying your kindergarten teacher used to preach to you... Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Then that relates to the whole what comes around goes around thing. I think man has forgotten that we descended from animals and that if it wasn't for them then we would have never been evoluntionalized. "The animals are beings that have feelings like me, they are like my brothers and sisters" -Ziggy Marley

When I found out what exactly happens to the animals in the process of collecting their bi-products or the actual killing, I was mortified. I couldn't believe for fourteen years of my life I always thought the animals lived on large green meadows, ate their natural surroundings, and mothers nursing there young. What I thought, was a lie. With the increase in demand of meats there is no possible way that every fillet would come from a traditional farm. And that's the point when i started to research everything about livestock. They way companies kill animals is the most inhumane, horrifying, disgusting, and sad process you would ever hear of. Not to mention all the pollution involved. I wont get into full details because it's very gory, but in my later blog i will explain the different types of animals and what they go through. I do not support any animals used for entertainment, such as tigers being forced to jump through rings of fire in cirrus's. It just doesn't make sense to me, a tiger doesn't belong fulfilling ludicrous orders to create laughter, they belong in the wild. I do not wear any animal furs or skins. I mean you don't see animals dressed up in expensive human skin do you? I do not support animal testing, again if you don't want to try an experiment on a man then don't try it on an animal. I try to buy organic, fair-trade, and Eco friendly products to better the earth, for it is all we have. I am not perfect, but the damage we have caused to this earth we call home is tremendous. We can fix and prevent any further damage by changing our dated habits with new modern ways. I am only fifteen but the rate I'm going at by being involved in such topics is invigorating. "Anyone who thinks the sky is the limit has a limited imagination."
